CHARRED FLOWERS

Charred Flowers is a three-dimensional sculptural work exploring the relationship between beauty, destruction, nature, and Brutalism. The flowers physically rise from the surface of the canvas, creating depth, shadow, and movement rather than functioning simply as a painted representation of flowers.
The work begins with recognizable organic forms associated with softness and beauty. Through charring, those forms are deliberately transformed—the surfaces become dark, irregular, imperfect, and almost architectural. Fire becomes both a destructive and creative process, stripping away conventional ideas of floral beauty while revealing new textures, edges, shadows, and forms.
The sculptural flowers move between black, charcoal, deep brown, cream and white, with traces of warm rust and copper emerging from the burned surfaces. The result is intentionally tactile and layered: nature reinterpreted through fire, texture, and imperfection.
The Tiffany-blue frame creates a deliberate contradiction. Its refined, almost precious color surrounds an object that has been burned and distressed, reintroducing beauty after destruction.
The work reflects an idea that continues throughout my practice: the intersection of organic and architectural, beautiful and brutal, refined and raw, destruction and preservation.
